Domingo Górriz is a Guatemalan contemporary artist dedicated to drawing, and the connections posible through abstract geometry.

In open dialogue with the western traditions of abstraction, geometric abstraction, and minimalism as well as with the rich and diverse multicultural imagery of the Central American region he inhabits, Górriz’s work explores the relationships between form and its meaning in different contexts, employing basic and universal graphic figures as a link between visual cultures, epochs, and spheres of knowledge.

Actively engaged in the practice of drawing, Górriz’s large-format drawings—drawn by hand without the aid of specialized tools— analyze the role of time, labor, and craftsmanship in contemporary art, while championing drawing as main protagonist in addition to medium.

Domingo Górriz es un artista contemporáneo Guatemalteco dedicado al dibujo y las conexiones posible a través de la abstracción y la geometría.

Dialogando abiertamente con las tradiciones occidentales de abstracción geométrica y el minimalismo, así como con el diverso imaginario multicultural de la región que habita, el trabajo de Górriz explora las relaciones entre la forma y su significado en distintos contextos, utilizando figuras gráficas universales como enlace entre culturas visuales, épocas, y esferas de conocimiento.

Comprometido activamente con la práctica del dibujo, sus dibujos de mediano y gran formato —realizados a mano, sin ayuda de herramientas especializadas— analizan el rol del tiempo, labor, y artesanía en el arte contemporáneo, mientras proponen el dibujo como protagonista principal además de medio.
